{"id":5246,"date":"2016-01-05T16:06:10","date_gmt":"2016-01-05T23:06:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.parkrag.com\/?p=5246"},"modified":"2016-01-05T16:06:10","modified_gmt":"2016-01-05T23:06:10","slug":"like-chair-lifts-falling-from-heaven","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/v2.parkrag.com\/index.php\/2016\/01\/05\/like-chair-lifts-falling-from-heaven\/","title":{"rendered":"Like Chair Lifts Falling From Heaven"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We know the opening of Park City Mountain wasn&#8217;t great, but we do have one thing to be thankful for&#8230; at least our chairlifts didn&#8217;t fall out of the sky.<\/p>\n<p>It appears that on Sunday, at Vail&#8217;s Heavenly resort in Tahoe, a chair lift\u00a0did just that. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/bayarea\/article\/Nearly-70-skiers-rescued-in-chairlift-snafu-at-6736085.php\">SF Gate reports<\/a> that &#8220;Nearly 70 people were evacuated from a ski lift at Heavenly Mountain Resort Sunday after one of the chairs suddenly fell, prompting operators to shut down the aerial conveyor.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the aftermath of operational\u00a0problems during\u00a0the last snow storm in Park City, Vail&#8217;s Park City Chief Operating Officer Bill Rock <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkrecord.com\/sports\/ci_29322841\/park-city-deals-operations-problems\">said<\/a>, &#8220;Snow safety is something we&#8217;re never going to sacrifice,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Guest and employee safety is important for us.&#8221; Much like in Park City where Mr Rock said that 40 minute lift lines were not due to understaffing, we&#8217;re pretty sure that Vail&#8217;s Heavenly resort would say something like&#8230; &#8220;Guest safety was never sacrificed&#8230; it was an EMPTY chair that fell to the ground.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In all seriousness though, things do happen, and everything carries a risk. So is this something to worry about at our Park City resorts?
