{"id":3633,"date":"2015-05-01T09:12:58","date_gmt":"2015-05-01T15:12:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.parkrag.com\/?p=3633"},"modified":"2015-05-01T09:12:58","modified_gmt":"2015-05-01T15:12:58","slug":"how-fast-utah-moves-on-social-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/v2.parkrag.com\/index.php\/2015\/05\/01\/how-fast-utah-moves-on-social-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"How Fast Utah Moves on Social Issues"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This post isn&#8217;t about Park City specifically, but I find the subject fascinating. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/graphics\/2015-pace-of-social-change\/\">Bloomberg has a fabulous info graphic<\/a> on the pace of social change by state.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the overview:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Utah\u00a0was one of the last states to allow interracial marriage.<\/li>\n<li>Utah was also one of the last states to vote FOR\u00a0prohibition.<\/li>\n<li>Utah was one of the first states to grant women full voting rights.<\/li>\n<li>18 states allow abortion, Utah isn&#8217;t one of them.<\/li>\n<li>36 states acknowledge\u00a0same sex marriage. Utah was about middle of the pack.<\/li>\n<li>4 sates allow recreational marijuana. Not us.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s\u00a0a great info graphic. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/graphics\/2015-pace-of-social-change\/\">Click on this link<\/a> and then scroll down to \u00a0see the pace of social change.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I\u00a0received an email from a reader pointing out that Utah does allow abortion. She says:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8220;Utah actually does allow abortion. There are two clinics in SLC.\u00a0 I think the graphic was stating which states allowed some type of abortion prior to Roe V Wade.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Thanks to the reader who corrected me.
