Home Uncategorized KPCW Uses Technology to Beat the Park Record

In Park City there are two main sources of news, The Park Record and KPCW.  Over the years they have battled to be King of The News in Park City.  Yet, as technology moves forward one wonders how radio or newspapers fit into a 24/7 world that is always connected.  Today, KPCW showed us the way.

The Talisker vs PCMR circus continued today with a hearing regarding the bond amount that PCMR should pay Talisker to keep from being evicted from the mountain.  KPCW’s coverage included information on the radio and via Twitter. The latter is what pushes KPCW ahead of its competition.  By simply following KPCW tweets, we were treated to a play-by-play that included what the Judge, PCMR, and Talisker all said. We read the most important arguments, heard both sides, and almost felt what the judge was thinking.  KPCW’s coverage included at least 50 straight tweets, dedicated to the topic.  We read important facts like:

In contrast, The Park Record had less than ten tweets (at the time of this writing).  These were interspersed with tweets about The Leadership Class wanting to publish a children’s book and a guitar player coming to town.  You would think that print media such as the Park Record would have the leg up, but it’s clearly not the case here.  KPCW has a clear grasp of what the public wants, gives it to us in a concise form, does so timely, and does it in a professional and entertaining way.  Kudos to them for great coverage of one of the most important events to hit PC in years.
